Vintage painting, laser-cut MDF, acrylic paint on canvas
37 x 53cm
A found vintage oil painting and acrylic painted wood on canvas with a three-dimensional element. The work is presented behind glass within a white, wooden frame.
This mid-century find was painted by an unknown artist. It has been divided into sections and then raised on wooden panels. Laser-cut MDF strips dissect the natural scene and are painted in similar colours chosen from the original oil painting.
Although the colours are linked, there is a strong sense of contrast between the organic shapes of the ducks and trees and the bold vibrancy of the wooden strips.
This work is part of a series of artworks appropriating old oil paintings and giving them a new lease of life for a contemporary audience.
