Vintage board game box, painted wood on canvas

58 x 63cm

A vintage board game box and acrylic painted wood on canvas with a three-dimensional element. The work is mounted behind glass within a white, wooden frame.

Featuring an uncommon British board game from the 1950’s, this box has been deconstructed and dissected with strips of painted wood that match the colours of the hand-drawn cars.

The direction of the wooden strips is intended to mirror the driving direction of the vehicles, and the decorative, arrow-like wooden corners echo the arrowed Diversion sign.

This artwork is part of an abstract series featuring single board game boxes with intervening strips of wood.
