Vintage playing cards, acrylic crystals on canvas

54 x 74cm

A collection of original, vintage playing cards and acrylic crystals arranged on painted canvas with a cut three-dimensional element. The work is mounted behind glass within a white, wooden frame.

This piece consists of playing cards from two separate sets combined together to form a geometric pattern. The cards have been laid in a grid-like formation and alternate between having the border raised or being entirely fixed to the canvas with added Swarovski crystals.

The black and white patterns and use of repetition give the viewer a sense of movement when viewed from a distance, somewhat inspired by the op art movement.

This piece is part of a series of works featuring vintage playing cards.
