Vintage painting, custom cut MDF, acrylic paint on canvas

59 x 59cm

SOLD

A found vintage oil painting and acrylic painted wood on canvas with a three-dimensional element. The work is mounted behind glass within a white, wooden frame.

This mid-century find was painted by an unknown artist. It has been divided into concentric circles and then raised. Laser-cut MDF rings dissect the scene and have been painted red to add a sense of urgency, contrasting with an otherwise idyllic landscape. Radiating out from the centre, they also create a sense of movement for the viewer.

This work is part of a series of pieces appropriating old oil paintings and giving them a new lease of life for a contemporary audience.
